Ökologische, ingenieurtechnische, logistische und sicherheitsrelevante Fragen spielen in der Seefahrt eine große Rolle.

Durch das neue „Center for Modeling & Simulation“ können wir nautische und logistische Fragestellungen, Prozesse im Schiffbau, der Umwelt- und Materialwissenschaften, sowie Abläufe in Unternehmen und auf Schiffen perfekt nachbilden.

Speziell für die Studierenden der Nautik wurden neue Simulationsanlagen z.B. für Offshore Anlagen, Liquid Cargo und Maschinenräume eingerichtet. Dies garantiert für jeden Situation und jede Beladungsart die optimale Vorbereitung. Durch das familiäre Umfeld werden offene Fragen und auftretende Probleme unter intensiver Betreuung bearbeitet.

Die jährlich stattfindende Ausbildungsfahrt auf einem Segelschoner, sowie die praktischen Semester an Bord runden den Praxisteil des Studiums ab und vertiefen die nautischen Kenntnisse.

Durch die breite Aufstellung des Studiums, das in erster Linie zur Arbeit auf See befähigt, können darüber hinaus auch vielfältige Tätigkeiten an Land ausgeübt werden.

  1. Am I eligible to study this bachelor programme? / What kind of documents do I have to upload?
     
    1. It is highly recommended to have seagoing experience before the start of the studies.
    2. Document prooving the medical fitness for sea service according to STCW.
    3. Document confirming university entrance allowance.
    4. Proof of English skills level B2.
    5. Recommended proof of basic safety training (including the Security Related Training!)  according to STCW.
       
  2. Where can I apply for a study place?
    1. Please see this link here and follow uni assist. At the top on the right side you can switch the language into Englisch „Sprache“.
       
  3. What is the application period? Deadline?
    1. Until 15th March
       
  4. What time will it take to receive a result? Admission letter?
    1. After about 6 weeks - we as university have no influence on the process of UniAssist.
       
  5. Do I have to proof my English skills? B2?
    1. Yes, by handing in a TOEFL Test or IELTS.
       
  6. Does the university offer accomodation for students? What are the alternatives in Leer?

  7. When do I have to apply for a visa? What is the exact procedure? How can the university assist?
    1. Please apply for a visa upon receipt of the admission letter. You have to contact the German embassy in your home country. They will share information about the documents you have to prepare. In case the admission letter from the university is not sufficient, please let us know.
       
  8. Where can I open a blocked account? How much money do I have to store there?

  9. What will be the living costs in Leer?
    1. The rent will be about 310 € per month, weekly expenses 20-50 € for alimentary etc.
       
  10. How much is the semester fee?
    1. You can find the latest fees here.
       
  11. When and how do I apply for the recognition of performances?
    1. After you have started your studies.
    2. You will have access to a form to be filled in and to hand in at the matriculation and examination office. The procedure is explained and the chairman of the examination board will make the final decision.
       
  12. What are the lecture dates/times/room?
    1. In general the lectures will be daily throughout the semester. Detailed information can be found on the homepage before the semester starts.
       
  13. What is the registration period for the assessments?
    1. You will be informed during the semester.
       
  14. Will the lectures be recorded?
    1. They won´t be recorded.
       
  15. How many ECTS do I need to apply for the bachelor thesis?
    1. Please have a look at the exam regulation.
       
  16. How can I apply for a semester on leave?
    1. As a student you have access to a common communication platform called Moodle. If you want to apply for a semester on leave you can find a form and information there.
       
  17. I was not able to pass all exams last semester. When and how can I resit?
    1. At least once a year.

 

Absolventen und Absolventinnen des Studiengangs Nautik & Seeverkehr fahren zunächst als Wachoffiziere und später als Kapitäne oder Kapitäninnen auf Schiffen aller Größen auf weltweiter Fahrt.
Sie sind gesuchte Spezialisten, nicht nur zur See - sondern auch an Land. Hier bieten sich Arbeitsmöglichkeiten sowohl bei der öffentlichen Hand (z. B. Hafenkapitän*in) oder in der Privatwirtschaft (Reedereien, Klassifizierungsgesellschaften).

Nautiker*innen tragen Verantwortung.

 

Das Studium ist sehr vielfältig und praxisnah – auch aufgrund der vorgeschriebenen Praxissemester.

Du wirst auf alle Eventualitäten vorbereitet, die an Bord eines Schiffes und im Umgang mit der eigenen Reederei geschehen können.
