Automation Systems Laboratory
Welcome to the website of the Automation Systems Laboratory.
The Laboratory for Automation Systems offers a technically well-equipped environment in which students can learn everything about automation technology as part of their electrical engineering studies. In addition to regular internships, you are cordially invited to participate in (research) projects in the field of automation technology.
Eight workstations are available in the E5 laboratory for practical training. In addition to a PC with the engineering software TIA-Portal for the development of automation solutions, these workstations offer a PLC system with modern, fail-safe SIEMENS PLC (S7-1500), touch panel (TP700) and a control panel for testing various functions. In addition, a fail-safe peripheral module (ET200S) is available for the use of safety-related automation. At each of the eight workstations there is a model of a sorting system where the acquired knowledge can be tested. Further fully equipped workstations and machines are available for project and research work.
Within the scope of the advanced study course in automation technology, the practical course for acquiring basic knowledge and advanced automation techniques takes place here. Project planning, programming (according to IEC 61131) and commissioning of automated systems are taught on the basis of practical tasks.
Whether plant, process or home automation, the use of modern IoT and Industry 4.0 components or the creation of digital twins for virtual commissioning, the laboratory offers a variety of modern automation technologies. At additional workstations, projects can be realized with model systems or new ideas can be implemented.
