Maritime Technology and Shipping Management (B.Sc.)

In this degree programme, you will gain knowledge ranging from logistics and financing through ship design, marine environmental protection and marine technology to international legal frameworks and quality management in shipping. In the optimised Maritime Technology & Shipping Management degree programme, you will learn about all the different aspects of the maritime sector – with more a more practical focus than ever before.

You will be superbly qualified for a wide range of future employers. In addition to shipping companies and shipyards, your potential future employers will include the entire maritime industry, port operations, authorities, international logistics service providers, the offshore energy sector, marine technology and hydraulic engineering, as well as maritime consultants operating on a global scale, classification societies and multinational groups with their global flows of goods.

The maritime sector operates on a global scale. The degree programme therefore features international elements. The first two years of study will be completed in German. During this time, you will learn “maritime English” in addition to gaining the necessary specialist knowledge. The sessions in the third year of study will then be offered in English. Of course, all examinations can be taken in German or English as you wish.

The Maritime Technology and Shipping Management Bachelor’s degree programme has a special structure: after the foundation course, you specialise in 3 specialist fields (profiles) in your subsequent studies. General specialist topics are taught in all areas, course content which forms a profile is taught in more depth separately by specialisation.

You manage the business processes and guarantee their quality and safety in all areas of logistics and the shipping industry.

In addition to good career opportunities in commerce, you also have the perfect qualifications to be young talent at port operators, water and shipping authorities or environmental authorities after your studies.

If you have already completed vocational training or even a mastership examination, e.g. as a boat builder, shipbuilder, sail maker, hydraulic engineer or shipping merchant, then you can further expand your career opportunities through a degree with us.

You are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), which contains a total of three courses:

     1. Shipping Company Management and Logistics
     2. Ship and Environmental Engineering
     3. Safety and Quality Management

You have to choose one of the three fields of study. The structure consists of basic studies, joint specialist studies and profile-forming specialist studies. For you, this results in a highly attractive study concept and a broad basis.
