Maritime Sciences
With us you can study the sea!
We are delighted that you are interested in studying at our University or working together with us on research and consultation projects.
Please, don’t be surprised that in Leer and the surrounding area, we are called the Seefahrtschule or navigation school, although we have for many years been a highly competitive department of the University of Applied Sciences Emden/ Leer. This is a result of our 160 year-old history which acknowledges that we are the oldest existing higher education institution in East Frisia.
On our campus, which is steeped in tradition in the heart of the East Frisian seaport town of Leer, you will find the most modern laboratories; essential maritime topics from the shiphandling simulator to ocean engineering are covered extensively.
Appointed by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, ten full professors teach and carry out research on our campus in the Bergmannstrasse. These are supported by about 20 specialist subject teachers, teachers on special assignment, research assistants, along with administrative employees from the library, management and technology departments.
Welcome!
