Production, Logistics & Business Informatics

The focus of the teaching concept is based on the paradigm that the effective and efficient control of logistics processes - resulting from the increasing national and international division of labor - can only succeed by linking the material and information flows of suppliers, customers and service providers.

The prerequisite for the control and optimization of material flow and manufacturing processes is based on the provision of integrated information systems.

The application of the solutions and methods developed for this purpose is not limited to the manufacturing industry, but can - in a modified form - also be transferred to the logistics processes of many service industries.

The core areas of the study focus address:

The production process as well as the underlying production systems. They take into account the upstream or downstream logistics sub-processes: Procurement, supplier management, inbound/outbound logistics, transportation management, warehousing and material provisioning.
the control procedures for designing and optimizing logistics and production processes. These include both PPS systems and the concepts and methods of process planning and optimization originating from Kaizen (e.g. Kanban).
Information technology integration and end-to-end process support. This refers both to basic IT knowledge and to the functionality of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. In addition, the approaches to IT-technical integration of suppliers and customers by means of supply chain management systems are also the subject of teaching.
Beyond the intersection of IT support for production and logistics, business informatics also includes the teaching of system planning/design, programming, project management, etc.

During your studies you can choose any combination of courses of the focus. There is no obligation to choose certain subjects or combinations.
