First Semester Survey
Since 2014, we have conducted a first semester survey at the beginning of each semester. In the survey, all new students (Bachelor and Master) can express their opinion about following topics approx. 3-4 weeks after the beginning of the semester:
- Application/admission
- Reasons and sources of information for choosing the study programme
- Reasons and sources of information for choosing the university
- Satisfaction with the start of studies
- Comments on the start of studies
- Faculty-specific or department-specific questions
- Social statistics (including age, origin)
The questionnaire was developed by a working group mainly involving the faculties. Once a year, in the run-up to the survey at the beginning of the winter semester, changes to the survey are agreed with the faculties.
Aims of the first semester survey:
- Optimisation of the first semester welcome / start of studies
- Improving university marketing
- Increasing the efficiency of student recruitment activities
After completion of the respective survey, the results are made available to the deans and they initiate measures to achieve the targets.
