Then the Product Development & Design program is just right for you.

In this program—the only one of its kind in Germany—we provide the necessary expertise in design techniques, modern product development methods, and mechanical engineering.

While the introductory mechanical engineering lectures initially provide a solid foundation for the Bachelor of Engineering, the second phase of the program focuses specifically on the specialized knowledge required for the new role of design engineer. These are taught primarily through project-based learning in a creative, hands-on environment:

DESIGN THINKING

Studying at a think tank!? The Design Lab serves as the creative hub and focal point of the program—this is where design thinking comes to life, combining creative energy with technology. The think tank offers a personal, communicative atmosphere and a good student-to-faculty ratio.

TEAMWORK

Studying as a team in a cutting-edge startup atmosphere—students use the DesignLab as a hub for collaboration to master the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and carry out both technical and design projects. The facilities are also available to students for working on their own projects.

PRACTICAL

Through teamwork, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mills, coffee machines, and the appropriate software applications, innovative products are created every day—some of which even make it to product presentations at BMW, Volkswagen, Kärcher, and others. Industry projects are an important part of the degree program and often serve as a stepping stone to thesis projects and employment.

FUTURE-ORIENTED

After graduation, students often work as design engineers, structural specialists, or experts at the intersection of design and engineering, or they go on to pursue a master’s degree. Thanks to their practical experience and software skills, students are in particularly high demand in the design departments of major automakers and product development companies.

COMMUNITY

Many graduates are active in the industrial design and automotive design communities, and our alumni network provides students with a wide range of professional contacts. As a result, most of our students have already secured a job offer before they graduate.

Anlagentechnik

Der Maschinen- und Anlagenbau ist eine traditionelle Ingenieurwissenschaft, wobei die Anlagentechnik ein Teilgebiet des Maschinenbaus darstellt. Der Anlagenbau ist einer der größten Arbeitgeber und Industriezweige in Deutschland.

Produktionstechnik

In unserer Vertiefungsrichtung der Produktionstechnik bekommst Du Einblick in die organisatorischen, technischen und wirtschaftlichen Aspekte von produzierenden Unternehmen, lernst Probleme zu erkennen und industrielle Abläufe zu optimieren.

Konstruktion

Du lernst in der Vertiefungsrichtung Konstruktion kennen, wie innovative Produkte entwickelt und berechnet werden, wie hierbei Kreativmethoden angewandt werden und wie neueste Technologien zur Herstellung dieser Produkte zum Einsatz kommen.
