Step-by-step to your 24/7 access
1. Initial Contact & Scheduling an Appointment
Just send us a quick email or drop by the lab anytime (weekdays 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in Room T57) to schedule an appointment for your safety orientation.
2. On-site Safety Orientation
In about 20 minutes, we’ll go over the lab rules, conduct guidelines, and the basics of using the equipment together.
3. Activate your Campus Card
After the briefing, we can have your student or staff ID card activated for the electronic door opener.
4. Access around the clock (24/7)
Starting now, you’ll have independent access to the FabLab at any time and can work on your prototypes and projects.
5. Our Rules in the Lab (Fair Use):
To ensure that everything runs smoothly for everyone, we emphasize safety (wear protective gear; operate machines only after receiving instruction), cleanliness (leave your workspace tidy) , and the principle of “helping others help themselves.”

Answer: Use of the lab and the machines is completely free of charge for students and staff of the University of Emden/Leer.
Answer: No! We'll teach you the basics during the safety briefing and in our workshops. We'll guide you step by step.
Answer: Yes, absolutely! The FabLab is available to you for classes, term papers, and theses, as well as for personal leisure projects.
Answer: You may use the test materials and leftover materials available on site. For larger projects, please bring your own materials (we’d be happy to advise you on where to get them!).
