Shibboleth and VPN-Client
Use Shibboleth or VPN to access licensed electronic resources from home.
The University Library Emden/Leer provides access to a wide range of electronic resources. The access is possible from computers in the IP range of the campus network without further registration.
As university members, you can use the electronic resources from home or on the go, too. To do this, you must authenticate yourself as authorized to access the electronic resources on the provider's platform.
Authentication via Shibboleth method
Web-based solution. You log in to the provider of the electronic resource using the Shibboleth method with your university ID.
Providers of electronic resources that support the Shibboleth method present login access ready for you. You can login with the shibboleth method by selecting the "Hochschule Emden Leer" (University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer) as the home institution and then login with your university ID.

Authentication with VPN Client
Software-based solution. You install a VPN client and enable it as soon as you want to access electronic resources.
The software can often be found for free download on the Internet.
The access information for setting up the VPN can be found on the pages of the ► Computer Center.
The authentication with VPN client is open to all electronically available resources of the University Library. Exception to this is the database "beck-online", which do not permit remote access.
