International Project Week 2015

In the spring semester of 2015, the Faculty of Business Studies invited again guest lecturers from our European partner institutions to the ”International Project Week“ (IPW).

This year 12 lecturers from Ireland, Poland, Spain, Latvia, Romania, Great Britain and Hungary followed the invitation and found their way to the seaport city from May 4h to 8th 2015. The Team of the International Faculty Office for Business Studies came up with an exciting and fun social programme with a lot of thought put in to focus on the region. Special focus was on getting to know the partners’ study program offers, exchange of experience in the different fields and connecting on a personal level. The international projects were met with strong interest by the students. The projects in English and Spanish about “A practical introduction to qualitative research “, ”Why do people work? Generation X,Y and the baby boomers “, ”Investment opportunities in Latvian ecological enterprises“, ” Responsabilidad social corporativa: Fuente de ventaja competitiva y determinantes “, “How to improve your managerial skills “ oder “Financial reporting now and in the future “ and further fascinating topics offered a glimpse of international lectures and the opportunity to learn more about studying abroad at the partner institutions.

Moreover for the first time a French project has been offered by an international student in cooperation with our French lecturer. Additionally, students could get involved in the IPW as “buddies“ for the lecturers and contributed to the success of the IPW.

The IPW was  completed by a broad social programme, which lead our guests to a convivial get-together at Henri´s, the Official Dinner at Hafenhaus, the „Kunsthalle“ and „Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum“ in Emden, to the visiting the city of Leer as well as the Bünting Tea Museum followed by a dinner at the Taraxacum. Further highlights were the exciting visit to the Bünting Group with a guided tour through the production facilities as well as the logistics centre.

For all participants it was a very special week with a laid-back and cordial atmosphere. This is why saying goodbye after a few days was hard for everybody.  Some testimonies by guest lecturers:

„ Thank you for the fantastic job performed by your team as a whole and each participant in particular before and in the course of the 2015 International week in Emden/Leer.” (Andrejs Limanskis, Lettland)

„Let it be said, that the people, I met on my trip were warm, good natured, good humoured, professional and helpful.” (Val Andrews, Irland)

It was a very successful week for participants and the Team IPW and we look forward to offering it again next year!
