The following principles apply to the 2020/21 winter semester:

What can be offered online is offered online.

Classroom-based events take place where the learning objectives cannot be achieved or can only be achieved to a limited extent through online teaching.

As a result, this means that the vast majority of courses will be offered online in the winter semester 20/21. Face-to-face events take place in the faculties (study location Emden) or semester groups (study location Leer) every three weeks. For the study location Emden e.g. the overview below applies.

In addition, laboratories, internships and other events for which attendance is mandatory in order to achieve the teaching objectives will take place in attendance.

For students who do not have a sufficient Internet connection at home and therefore cannot take part in online events, workplaces will be set up within the university, including in the computer rooms, the T-foyer and in the library. There will be a registration and booking system for the workplaces in the library; the presence is recorded in it for reasons of traceability. You can register for this on the library website.

The library is currently open for media returns and pre-registered media issues. The scan and other services can also be used.

Staying in the library outside of these processes and using the library as a study and work space will only be possible after registration and only for small numbers of students.

You can find out how lending works and which other services are offered by the library here: https://www.hs-emden-leer.de/hochschule/organisation/einrichtungen/bibliothek/zentralbibliothek-emden-corona#c35791

Yes - please contact the lecturer and make an appointment.

Students can withdraw from registering for the thesis if they can substantiate reasons related to the pandemic.

Upon request, the faculties can allow students to extend the processing time by up to 2 months beyond the maximum processing time specified in the respective examination regulations. They should approve requests for an extension of the submission deadline by up to 4 weeks if pandemic-related reasons are credible.

Your first point of contact for problems in connection with certain courses are always the respective lecturer. Problems in connection with the organization of studies should first be clarified in the faculty, there with the secretariats, the dean's offices or the chairperson of the examination board. The student council or the AStA are also good contacts for all matters relating to studies and teaching.

In general - especially in the case of personal problems - you can contact the Central Study Counselling  Service at any time: https://www.hs-emden-leer.de/hochschule/organisation/einrichtungen/zentrale-studienberatung

If you want to de-register after (hopefully) successful studies in the next few weeks, it is sufficient to submit the de-registration application to the Admission and Examination Office. The submission must also be made by post. The discharge certificate provided on the relevant form does not currently have to be countersigned by the various institutions.

The campus card and any door cards and transponders issued must also be sent with the application.

For some students, Corona has extended the processing time for the final theses. As a result, the colloquium (or the final assessment of the work) can “slip” into the next semester. It is questionable whether there has to be a re-registration in these cases and whether the semester fee is still to be paid in full.

We will inform you on the basis of the legal regulations:

• In any case, re-registration is required if the submission and the final evaluation after August 31. and thus in the new semester (which will start on September 1st, 2020). Please note, however, that you or your second examiner can get sick. If the colloquium or the final assessment is only after August 31. you have to re-register afterwards.

• Your semester fee will be reimbursed on request, provided that the colloquium or the final assessment of the work takes place before October 21, 2020.

• If the colloquium and the final assessment take place on October 21 or later, the semester fee is payable.

For the special current situation, the University Family Service collects and updates regional information and tips in the Moodle group "Hochschulangehörige mit Nachwuchs".
