Information and services of the library

So that you can also learn from home and work in the home office, we try to acquire the necessary literature as e-books and make them available for you.

Please contact our acquisition departments:

Please note that library licenses are not available for all titles that are offered as e-books on the Internet. However, we check all purchase options.

Use Shibboleth or VPN to use licensed electronic media such as e-books, e-journals and databases from home. You can find all the details ► here.

e-books... All e-books purchased from the library can be found in our ► library catalog. Simply use the link in the detailed display for the catalog hit and you will be taken to the provider's website. Whether you can only read an e-book online or save and / or print it out depends on the provider.

e-journals... All e-journals directly licensed by the library can be found in our ► library catalog. Simply use the link in the detailed display of the catalog hit and you will be taken to the data sheet of the e-journal in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). From here you can go to the website of the magazine provider where the electronic fulltexts are available. You can also search for relevant titles directly in the ► EZB. You will also find licensed e-journals that are available in licensed databases and may not be found in the library catalog. Please activate your VPN client to directly see the collection of the University Library Emden/Leer.

databases... The databases licensed by the library are documented in the database information system ► DBIS. In addition to the specialist databases licensed by the University Library Emden/Leer, a large number of databases freely accessible on the web are also listed here. Simply enter the name of the database you are looking for directly in DBIS or find a suitable database via the entry in the subject overview. Please activate your VPN client to directly see the collection of the University Library Emden/Leer. The data sheets in DBIS give you information about the type and content of each database. The link "Start research" takes you to the respective database start page. Please note that the databases only grant access via the link stored in DBIS. Access via search results in search engines may lead to pages that do not allow authentication via VPN or Shibboleth. Do you want to be inspired? Take a look at our ► Datenbank-Spotlight. Here we present selected specialist databases.
