Interdisciplinary Physiotherapy- Motology – Occupational Therapy

Aim of the study programme

The academisation of the health professions has made an important contribution to quality assurance, evidence based and scientific justification in the health care system. For the implementation and design of an effective and efficient modern health care system, it is necessary that physiotherapists, psychomotoric therapists, occupational therapists both understand and are partners in this process. The aim of this course is to develop an improved professional capacity to act in the context of interdisciplinary cooperation. Focus is on promotion of the prospective development and its connectivity without neglecting the specific profile. This course enables the development and implementation of demand-oriented treatment concepts that are more resource and real- life orientated and is applied on the basis of a biopsychosocial understanding.

Course Progression

This course consists of two phases of study:

1st  study phase: training in a cooperating vocational school or college of physiotherapy, psychomotricity or occupational therapy and then study at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer.

2nd  study phase:
(a) after passing the state examination in a cooperating school you will then study Physiotherapy, Motology, Occupational Therapy  for 3 semester in full-time study at the University of of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer or

(b) after passing the state examination in Physiotherapy, Psychomotricity or Occupational Therapy, passed the entrance examination and have participated in higher education study modules, you then study for three semesters at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer.

Admission Requirements

Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife), subject-related entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife) or general higher education entrance qualification (allgemeine Hochschulreife) and practical training in a cooperating vocational school/college or a placement test and participation in university modules for registered physiotherapists, motologists or  occupational therapists.

Course Begin

Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, both in the summer semester. Application deadline: 15.01.

Motology for the winter semester, if training at cooperating/partner school. Application deadline: 15.07.

Motology for the summer semester, if you have passed the state examination in psychomotricity. Application deadline: 15.01.
