So you can concentrate fully on your studies and really enjoy your time with us.
The seaport city of Emden also offers the ideal conditions for this: you live cheaply, have peace and quiet to learn and can try out many sports in your spare time. Opportunities for sailing, windsurfing and rowing, for example, are just as abundant here as the sand by the sea. And museums, theatres and cinemas are just a stone's throw away.

Founded in 1973 with the Faculties of Social Work and Business Studies, the Emden campus today combines the following areas: Social Work and Health, Technology and Business Studies – with over on 20 Bachelor and 10 Master study programs. The campus currently covers a total area of 90,000 square metres.
And we are still growing: for example, we are starting the 2019 summer semester with a completely new building: the modular house that offers even more space for events and offices. For you this means even more opportunities for project-based learning in small groups.

Fairtrade-Hochschule Emden/Leer lädt zum nachhaltigen Bummel ein
Die Hochschule Emden/Leer lädt für Mittwoch, 3. Dezember, zur Weihnachtsausgabe ihres Nachhaltigen Feierabendmarktes ein. Auf dem Platz vor und in der Mensa wird es in der Zeit von 16 bis 19 Uhr bei den Ständen mit Produkten in Bio- oder Fairtrade-Qualität auch einige weihnachtliche Besonderheiten geben.
Den Besucherinnen und Besuchern des Marktes wird wieder einiges geboten. Zu den kulinarischen Leckereien gehören unter anderem Glühwein, heißer Apfelsaft und Met, israelisches und veganes Streetfood, selbstgemachte Bonbons und vieles mehr. Als Fairtrade-Aktion werden zudem unter dem Motto „Süß statt bitter“ fair gehandelte Orangen angeboten und ihr Weg in die Region sowie die Initiative „Brot für die Welt“ vorgestellt. Auch nachhaltige Mode ist auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt vertreten. Die zahlreichen Facetten des Themas Nachhaltigkeit werden zudem von verschiedenen Initiativen aus der Hochschule und der Region vorgestellt, darunter Amnesty International, die Soroptimistinnen und die AG Barrierefreie Hochschule. Für Kinder gibt es ein Upcycling-Bastelangebot und Stockbrot. Zudem lädt Prof. dr. Philipp Huke zur Sternenbeobachtung mit dem Teleskop ein.
Für die stimmungsvolle musikalische Begleitung des Marktes sorgen der Kinderchor der Grundschule Constantia mit plattdeutschen Liedern und der Posaunenchor Constantia.
Schirmherr der Veranstaltung ist Rico Mecklenburg, Präsident der Ostfriesischen Landschaft.
