Observation and measure
You like to define one or several microscopes within E.L.M.I. When you take a microphotograph, you like to exactly define the optics you used to take that picture and store these data down to your database. This is one prerequisite to perform measurements in the microphotograph, later.
The software interface for determination of micrometerfactors contains an image analysis, which calculates the most precise value possible.
You take a photo from an object micrometer using the corresponding optics ONCE. After calculating the factor, the optics used is recognized by the system and stored in a special database. Whenever you use the same optics, the correct micrometerfactor will be chosen from the database and you'll be able to measure.
The micrometerfactor is determined by object recognition methods. Therefore, the angle of the object micrometer is calculated automatically. It is not necessary to place the object micrometer perpendicular. The roughness of the micrometer photographed is calculated and the most probable center of the ticks is calculated.
After that, stochastical methods will estimate the most precise distance between all ticks detected. Therefore all measurements will appear with the standard error of the error calculated from the object micrometer.
Object micrometer and it's errors
The object micrometer is manufactured with care. As all human products it includes errors. Our object micrometer offers two major problems: 1. The marks are not straight and smooth. They are rough and uneven. 2. The distances between the marks are not equal. E.L.M.I. automatically calculates the errors arising from roughness and inequal distance and compiles the most precise object micrometer factor, possible. Due to the mentioned errors, E.L.m.I. calculates the standard error and displays it during measuring.
