Frontend
Frontend descritption
This is the main screen of E.L.M.I., which shows all important informations for one microscopic image at a glance. It is possible to switch this main screen from enlighted mode (shown here) to dimmed mode, convenient for "darkrooms" used for fluorescense microscopy.
This software front end is both:
- Source of information for each single image (of thousands of microphotographs you perhaps like to store in that database) and
- Form you like to type your query into. In front of each element you see green "balls". These are the command indicators for your query, when you like to search a set of images. When you move these balls down, they will get "Blue" and finally "Red". "Green" stands for "OR", "Red" stands for "NOT" and "Blue" stands for "AND".
Using these flags you may combine several fields to a sophisticated query. For example: Search all images which are made between (03.04.2008 and 13.11.2010) AND (treat with tissure from mammals OR pisces ) but do NOT (contain tissue from retina). A detailed desctription how to use the database query engine is given with the help system of E.L.M.I.
There are two editors ( just beyond the image) which offer full functionality of a sophisticated text editor. Furthermore, the content of the texteditor can even be part of the database query.
Optics chooser
Simply choose your optics with a "wheel based" optcs chooser.
In the example given beyond, you see how to simply change the optics by "rotating" the selection. All elements touched technically with this event got "illuminated" bluish.
Optics panel
These three screenshots show, how the main screen displays the major optical data for the lens and other optics used for the currently chosen settings. See how for example the coverglass sensitivity or the recommended total power in relation to the numerical aperture changes due to different lens. Watch the different observation angles for a multi-immersion system (mid image).
