Welcome - Modern university with individual flair

Studying in Emden or Leer means studying at a modern university with a personal atmosphere. Currently the university is comprised of 4.600 enrolled students who primarily learn in small groups, which are characterized by an intense and project-oriented nature.

Besides the mere facilitation of technical know-how, our educational goals additionally entail fostering creativity and the capacity for team-work as well equipping our students with key qualifications. Our highly motivated academic staff enhances the appeal of the respective study programme with efficient learning methods and the commitment to ensuring individual support for each student.

With more than 100 academic partnerships in Europe and a countable number of those outside of Europe, we are proud of our international atmosphere on campus. Besides many international exchange and Erasmus students from within Europe we can count a large number of international degree students. Many of them come from countries such as the PR China, India, Mexico, Columbia, the Phillippines, Egypt, Africa, Spain and Latvia.

Ideal learning and living quality

East Frisia offers optimal conditions for an effective and affordable studying experience.  Students can expect lower living expenses in the medium-sized cities of Emden and Leer compared to the likes of various metropolitan areas. The compact layout of the cities also offers short distances by bike from the city center to the university.  All university facilities are located on one campus, while different sport activities, especially water sports, art, culture and the short distance to the North Sea provide various leisure time activities.
