The developed PPS-system additionally optimizes a production regarding energy efficiency aspects. Peak loads during manufacturing and the specific energy related costs can be reduced.

Both effects are increasing the value-added chain of energy and simultaneously reducing CO2-emissions.

Optimizing production-planning and-scheduling

Optimizing a production-scheduling in an energy-efficient way has to be done without neglecting business- and technical criteria. An integrated approach concerning production-scheduling has been needed and executed.

This approach implies the necessary expansion of target figures, for which newly defined energy-efficiency criteria have been developed and integrated in the PPS-Software.

Three ways to improve energy-efficiency

Three ways to improve energy efficiency are:

  • The reduction of energy-demand by a constantly manufacturing output
  • The optimization of machinery, based on realistic machine-energy-data and
  • The optimization of energy-procurement based on accurate energy-demand-data -  even in case of a more flexible production-program.

The enabling of these ways is one of the main innovations to improve energy-efficiency.  Optimizing energy-consumption costs in manufacturing is another one -especially in case of a changing or flexible production-program.

These possibilities  will make SMEs being able to improve their  energy-management with little effort and many advantages.
