Degree Course

The bachelor degree course in Computer Science provides a practical training for computer scientists. As a result of carefully selected content in this course, a successful entry into professional life is guaranteed. In addition to an in-depth specialist knowledge, the students themselves also acquire competences in the area of key qualifications. This enables the graduates to cope efficiently with the onset of professional life.

Due to the continuous growth of the information and communication technologies, it is expected that there will be a high demand for qualified IT specialists in the future. The increasing digitalization and networking of everyday life, in particular by mobile devices, reinforces this trend.

Requirement for entry is a general higher education entrance qualification (allgemeine Hochschulreife), an advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife), a subject-related entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife) or a corresponding vocational certificate in practical training with special qualifications.
The proof of an internship before the course is in contrast to many other courses of study, not required.

Computer Science in Emden

The Faculty of Technology offers in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science a coordinated range of complementary courses. Thereby, the dynamic development in the field of information and communication technologies is taken into account and addressed by the systematic updating of this course.

In the course in Computer Science is about the entire range of software and computing systems. From programming languages on software technology to business information systems and computer architectures to operating systems and computer networks. The emphasis of our studies in addition to practical computer science is depending on the direction of your studies, it could be the subject of computer engineering, IT-security or also in the field of marketing und sales.

After successful completion of the Computer Science degree course, the University of Applied Sciences awards the academic degree of Bachelor of Science. For graduates who have successfully completed this degree course in Computer Science there opens up the possibility for the continuation of their studies in the consecutive master degree course in Industrial Informatics.

Course Progression

Through the Computer Science degree course you acquire knowledge and skills in the major areas of mathematics, programming and software development, computer system theory and key qualifications and also in cross-disciplinary areas. In the context of so-called optional subjects and projects you are able to deepen your knowledge according to your interests. There is a comprehensive set of offerings in IT-security, der computer engineering sowie zu sales and marketing.

The course takes 7 semesters and is completed with the bachelor thesis.
