Meet our Students

Alina Kantarev, Rumänien, Alumni

Where are you from and which/where is your Home University?

I am from Bacau, Romania. My home university was the University "Vasile Alecsandri" from Bacau, Romania.

Are you an international exchange-student or an international degree-student and how long have you been at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer?

I was an international exchange-student (Erasmus Student) for one Semester in Emden (in the Winter Semester 2008). Since Semptember 2011 I am a regular student at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer. I am making my Master Study in Business Management.

Why did you choose the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer for your study period abroad?

I chose the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer for my study period abroad because I find the German culture interesting and Emden was the perfect place to study, to have fun and to meet new people. To study in Germany and to live abroad for 5 months it was a big challenge for me. I am happy I did it and I would do it over and over again if the chance would show up. It was like a life experience that I will bever forget. I can say that this experience changed my life in a positive way, opened me new "roads" and brought into my life people that I will never forget.

What do you especially like about the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer?

When I first arrived to Emden I was really enthusiastic about everything. In the Orientation Program I got to know the city of Emden and the other Erasmus students. I met a lot of amazing people from all over the world. I was impressed of how goo organized was everything at the university. The academic support was totally different and many other possibilities to study and to have fun in the same time. The people were really nice and always ready to help. During my studies in Emden, I had the privilege to make together wir Mrs. Alvares-Wegner two projects for two German companies. This experience was one of the best things that happened to me in Emden.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for prospective international students?

I think that is really important to create social networks during your Erasmus Scholarship. Leraning German is a big advante for you, if you want someday to work in Germany or for a German company. And one more thing: travel as much as you can in Germany!!! There are so many beautiful places to see!!!

Do you have any advice or hints about living in Emden/East Freesia?

Don´t miss the Volkswagen Factory!!!
